I was a little stuck on what to write for this week’s second post, when all of a sudden inspiration hit. What if I revive my absolute least successful series from the first year of the blog? This may sound stupid, and it is, but the fact is that other than the predictions post, I didn’t cover E3 at all last year, and that’s awful. I excitedly bought my Sega Genesis Mini on the day it came out, planning to play its really good selection of games for hours on end. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore First Impressions

It feels a little weird writing a first impressions piece of a port of a game that I already wrote a twelve part series on. That being said, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE might be my favorite JRPG of all time, and I was super excited to get back in and see what new features were added. Random Game Wednesdays: Final Fantasy IX (Nintendo Switch)

Sometimes the random number generator that decides what I write for this feature is cruel. Today, it selected Final Fantasy IX, a long Japanese role-playing game, and one that I’ve already beaten. So what do I do, play the beginning again? But for what purpose, I’m not getting a new first impression out of it. Do I just load up my save? What will that do, other than look at what the end of the last dungeon looks like? It’s also not fresh enough in my mind to write an actual formal review of it. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Demo Impressions

This is something I wasn’t expecting to be writing today. During today’s Pokemon Direct, Nintendo announced a remake of the first pair of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, combining them into a single game with a release date of March 6. Not only was this a complete surprise, but they also put out a demo today, and you can even carry your save data from it into the full game. How About That Direct? | Pokemon Direct 1/9/20

At the start of every year, Nintendo fans start to go a little crazy. There’s always an early Nintendo Direct that highlights what to expect In the first several months and sometimes stuff even further off. As such, it was a little disappointing when Nintendo announced a couple days ago that the first Direct of the year would be one focused on Pokemon, rather than a more general Nintendo Direct. I really like Kirby, but for whatever reason, his Super Nintendo games are a bit of a blind spot for me. But, a couple of them are available on the Nintendo Switch’s SNES app and the random number generator decided I should check out Kirby’s Dreamland 3. Dreamland 2 was one of my favorite games on the original Game Boy, but is 3 a worthy successor? Well, it’s kind of hard to say after only playing through the first world, but here’s what I thought. A Cautionary Tale Of Spending Nine Cents

If you go on the Nintendo Switch eShop and look at the best sellers list right now, you’ll find a game basically no one had heard of sitting in second place, just under Untitled Goose Game and above a pre-order for Luigi’s Mansion 3. That game is Revenge of the Bird King, and despite the fact that no one has heard of it, it’s pretty clear how it rose up the ranks. If you go to the great deals section of the eShop, you’ll see that the game is currently only nine cents. Surely, a lot of people bought the game for that reason alone right? Hell, I know I did, and I used Gold Coins instead of spending real money. So now a lot of people have this thing, but is it any good? Continue reading →
