Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Week 6

Once again, it’s time to check in with my progress in Dragon Age: Origins. And, unlike last week, I’m actually writing this in a timely manner, so I have a pretty good idea of what went down. This week, I take care of a couple of my party members’ personal quests, as well as start working on recruiting the dwarves to help out with the blight. But, as always, let’s go over some numbers before I start. Ivan Ooze is currently level 14 and my total play time is 19 hours . Continue reading

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: First Impressions

It’s weird to think that Mario Kart 8 is already a three year old game. It really doesn’t feel like that long ago that I bought the game and obsessively played through every grand prix on every difficulty until I had a three star ranking on each one. Now Nintendo has put the game back out on their new Switch platform. Does the game still hold up after three years? And more importantly, is it worth double-dipping? Continue reading

Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Week 5

Did you know it’s been over a month since I posted the previous installment of this series? Well, it’s finally back. If you read yesterday’s Circling Forward post, you know that I actually did the play session for this post way back when it originally was supposed to be written. As a result, none of what I’m about to write is fresh in my mind. This is going to be a very rough blog post and will almost certainly contain several inaccuracies. I also expect it’ll end up being pretty short, because if I can’t remember the details, what am I going to write about? But, if all goes according to plan, things will be back to normal next week. Continue reading

Circling Forward 4-22-17: The One Where I’m Still Alive

It feels like it’s been a long time since I posted anything on this blog. Looking at my home page as I write this, it’s apparently been nine days since my last post, which I guess isn’t too bad. But, between constant delays of Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Week 5 and me missing Random Game Wednesdays this week, I thought it would be a good idea to address what’s going on. Don’t worry, in theory it will be smooth sailing for the foreseeable future. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: RealSports Soccer (Atari Flashback Classics Vol 1)

I thought for this week’s edition of Random Game Wednesdays, I’d go back to Atari Flashback Cassics Vol 1. I haven’t had much luck with that particular compilation in the past, but I know there’s good games on there. Looking at the list, there’s plenty that I played while growing up that I liked a whole lot. So, once again, I used the random number generator and received another game that I had never played before. Continue reading

Yooka-Laylee: First Impressions (Xbox One)

I’ve been waiting for Yooka-Laylee for a long time. About two years ago, Playtonic Games, a new studio made up of former Rare developers, launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie games. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it on this blog, but Banjo-Kazooie is one of my all time favorite games. Hearing that a new game in the style of Banjo by some of Banjo’s original developers was reason enough for me to finally contribute to a Kickstarter. I gave enough money for a copy of the game and access to the Toybox demo, and then I waited. Continue reading
