When playing a game, do you ever feel like you don’t quite get it? That there’s just something missing that would make the whole thing make a lot more sense? That was me this morning with Karate Champ, an early fighting game from Data East. There has to be some kind of hidden depth in this game, but it basically amounted to button mashing and praying. Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Week 2
Finding time to play long, demanding games when you’re also working a full time job and trying to keep up on other things is surprisingly difficult. But that’s what this series is, and that’s what I’m going to keep doing. As of right now, my current play time in Dragon Age: Origins is 6 hours and 55 minutes, and my main character is level 8. If you read the previous week’s entry, you know that I kind of screwed up and forgot to write down my time and level before starting week 2’s play session, so I don’t know how much actual time was spent this week. Hey, Where’s Random Game Wednesdays?
If you’re a reader of this blog, you probably noticed that this week’s Random Game Wednesdays has not yet been posted. Well, I had kind of a busy morning this morning and didn’t get a chance to play anything, which happens sometimes. Usually, when that happens, I’ll play and post later in the day. Unfortunately, I work at 2 in the morning tomorrow and will only be up for another hour or so. So, Random Game Wednesdays this week should be out on Thursday. With any luck, I’ll get the second episode of Dragon Age Origins Check-In up too. Thanks for the patience!
Dragon Age Origins Check-In: Week 1
Dragon Age Origins is one of those games I always meant to play through but never got around to it. Sure, I started it a few times, got a number of hours in, and really enjoyed myself, but for some reason I always dropped off before getting to the end. Well, not this time, because this time I have a weekly blog series to write, so I just have to keep playing. Continue reading
Random Game Wednesdays: Mortal Kombat X (XL?) (Xbox One)
I was very surprised today when I booted up Mortal Kombat X today. Some time after the game’s release, a version of the game came out that included all the DLC and was called Mortal Kombat XL. I thought this was a pretty cute name for an extra large version of it. Apparently, when that version was released, there was also a patch put out that changed the title of the game to Mortal Kombat XL. So, even though I haven’t bought any of the DLC, and what I have is the same as what was on X, it now says that I’m playing XL. Huh. Continue reading
Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Update
As I’m sure everyone has noticed, week 1 of Dragon Age: Origins Check-In is not up yet. My actual job has been really crazy this week. I haven’t had a single day that I didn’t end up working overtime. I was planning on getting it written afer work yesterday, but after over two hours of overtime, the only thing I could get myself to do last night was lay on the couch, watch YouTube, and play Fire Emblem Heroes. And now it’s Wednesday and I have to work on Random Game Wednesdays.
So, yes, I’m still planning on getting it up this week, just later than I originally wanted. I might even get it up tonight, but that’s not a promise. Thanks for your patience, I’ll get it up as soon as I can.
Fire Emblem Heroes: First Impressions
I’m probably the last person who should be talking about Fire Emblem Heroes. I have almost no connection with the series, having only played some of Awakening and all of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. To me, Lucina is the character I play as the most in Super Smash Bros., and the fact that she was in another game is almost irrelevant. That’s not to say I don’t like Fire Emblem, what I’ve played has been great. I just don’t have a lot of experience with it. But despite all that, when Nintendo puts out a new free-to-play mobile game, I need to see what it’s about. Continue reading
Random Game Wednesdays: R.C. Pro-Am (Rare Replay)
Despite being a huge fan of Rare and the NES, R.C. Pro-Am is kind of a blind spot for me. It’s a game I had certainly heard about a lot, and it’s possible that I may have played it at one point in time, but I have no real memory of it. Well, today that changed. I used the random number generator that I always use for these posts and it gave me Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, but since I had already covered that one, I tried a second time and it gave me R.C. Pro-Am. Continue reading
