I may have been pretty bad about keeping up on this blog lately, but you know I can’t not write an E3 (or whatever it is now) predictions post! We’re also now at a point where PlayStation, Xbox, and Summer Game Fest have all announced dates and times for their events, and Nintendo’s next Direct is rumored to be happening some time in June. I haven’t heard anything about a Ubisoft show, so there won’t be any predictions for them this year.
If you’ve never seen one of my E3 predictions posts before, first of all, welcome, second of all, let me explain how they work. For each presentation, I will give three predictions. The first one is called the “Sure Thing”. As the name implies, this is a prediction I’m very confidant in. The second is called the “Pretty Sure”, this is one that I think there’s a good chance of, but am much less confidant in. The final is the “Shot in the Dark”, which is one that almost certainly won’t happen, but in the event that it does, I want to be able to say that I called in. New this year, I’m going to award myself half points if I get a third party announcement right, but the exact show I guessed is wrong. And with all that out of the way, let’s get this started!
Nintendo Direct
Sure Thing: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake
I’m a strong believer in the rumor that we’re getting an Ocarina of Time remake this holiday. I thought it was pretty possible before, but after the Star Fox leak turned out to be true, I’m all in on Ocarina. So yeah, that’ll be here.
Pretty Sure: The Next Monolith Soft game is announced

We’ve heard talks of Monolith Soft being hard at work on their next project for some time, including one that’s supposed to be more traditional fantasy than their other games. I’m a big Xenoblade fan, so I would love it to be a new entry in that series, but I’m not convinced that it will be. But whatever their next game is, it’ll be hre.
Shot in the Dark: StarTropics 3
One of these days, right?
PlayStation State of Play
Sure Thing: Final Fantasy VII Remake part 3

It feels like we should be seeing the final installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy soon. Square-Enix doesn’t have it’s own showcase coming up that I know of, and the series still has strong ties to Sony, despite getting releases on other platforms recently, so I think this is very likely.
Pretty Sure: Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake
The remake of Code Veronica was almost my Sure Thing for this showcase. All signs have pointed towards it being the next Resident Evil game, and there’s a history of announcing them at Sony’s shows. The only thing that made me second guess it is that it might just be too soon since the release of Resident Evil Requiem for Capcom to be ready to announce the next one.
Shot in the Dark: PaRappa the Rapper 3
Of all PlayStation franchises, this is the one that I want to get revived the most.
Xbox Games Showcase
Sure Thing: Fable release date
It’s time. Fable was announced forever ago, we’ve seen it a few times, now just tell us when it’ll be out.
Pretty Sure: Fallout 3 Remastered
Following from last year’s Oblivion Remastered, I think a Fallout 3 one is pretty obvious. It would also just be nice to have another Fallout game out in the near future.
Shot in the Dark: Banjo-Threeie

I mean, Everwild was cancelled. Rare has to be working on something other than Sea of Thieves, right?
Summer Game Fest Opening Night Live
Sure Thing: Physint trailer
I don’t think Kojima’s Metal Gear spiritual successor, Physint, is coming out any time soon. That being said, Kojima loves showing new trailers for years and Summer Game Fest loves Kojima. This is going to happen.
Pretty Sure: Shovel Knight 2
Summer Game Fest is a great place for indie games to get their first appearance. This one might be a little soon, since Yacht Club’s next game, Mina the Hollower, isn’t out yet. But, we know a new Shovel Knight is in some form of development, and with Mina’s release getting close, I think an announcement teaser makes a lot of sense.
Shot in the Dark: Shenmue IV

I mean, we eventually got III, right?
And that’s my predictions! What do you think? My accuracy has been pretty bad in recent years, but I feel pretty good about these ones. Let me know what you think in the comments!
