E3 or Whatever: PlayStation Showcase 2023

PlayStation’s presentations are typically either incredible or fairly boring. Remember the E3 press conference where Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue III were announced? That’s one of my favorite E3 moments of all time. But on the other hand, remember the one where they only showed four games and it was in like a weird church setting? Yeah, pretty boring. This year’s PlayStation Showcase leans more towards boring, in my opinion, but there was a few really great announcements.

So, E3’s Been Canceled Again

I think we all knew it was coming, but yesterday, E3 2023 was officially cancelled. If you’ve followed this blog, you know that I at least used to go all out each E3. I’d have a predictions post, individual posts for each press conference, and just general thoughts on the event overall. With me getting back into consistently updating this blog, I was really hoping that this would be the year that I’d get serious with my E3 coverage again, but now this.

E3 2021 Predictions

After taking last year off, E3 is back with an all digital show, and that means I’m back to make some predictions about it. I mean, I made predictions based on the weird amount of shows that popped up to fill in the void last year, so it’s not like I really went anywhere, but this time it’s for something that’s actually called E3! That being said, this is still another pretty weird year.

So, E3(?) 2020 Was Pretty Bad, Huh?

You know, I had some really big plans for this year’s E3. E3 wasn’t going to happen? Who cares, most of the companies involved are doing shows of their own and I’m going to cover just about all of them. But after that PlayStation 5 reveal, every event had so little that I wanted to talk about that it just became impossible to want to write about them. But, I have to, right? So here’s a more general post about the whole thing.  Continue reading

E3(?) 2020: PS5 The Future Of Gaming

The week that would have been E3 2020 is just about over. Despite not having an actual, proper event, several different companies have put their own individual presentations. I debated covering all of them, but decided that I would only focus on the ones that I was particularly interested in, which are the same ones that I did predictions for. That’s not to say that there isn’t anything good shown at the other shows (Persona 4 on PC!) but I just wanted to focus on stuff that would have been in a normal E3, for the most part. And so, let’s talk about that Future Of Gaming show that Sony put on. Continue reading

E3(?) 2020 Predictions

This has been a pretty weird year, right? I don’t really need to get into how unprecedented the times are, you’ve heard it all already, but as a result, there is no E3 this year. Now, how am I supposed to do E3 predictions when there isn’t an E3?  Well, thankfully there’s a bunch of little events that more or less replace E3 this year, so we’ll just use those. Reviewing E3 2019: Microsoft Press Conference

I was a little stuck on what to write for this week’s second post, when all of a sudden inspiration hit. What if I revive my absolute least successful series from the first year of the blog? This may sound stupid, and it is, but the fact is that other than the predictions post, I didn’t cover E3 at all last year, and that’s awful. So, I’m going to kind of make that right by re-watching all the press conferences and writing what I thought, starting with Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference. Continue reading
