I sure didn’t write a lot last year. Well, now it’s 2020, and a lot of my excuses for that are gone. So, here’s a quick post to let you all know what to expect from this blog this year.
Every week will have a minimum of two posts. One of those will be the return of a classic, Random Game Wednesdays. For anyone new, for that series, I pick a console or similar library of games, enter the amount of games I own for it onto a random number generator, and then play the game the generator selects for me. Usually, these posts are very first-impressiony, as I only play for an hour or two before writing, but sometimes I get a game I know a whole lot about. So, yeah, it’s fun. That’ll start tomorrow.
I’m also going to start a new regular feature that I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time. My yearly reviews of E3 press conferences (that I regrettably missed last year) are some of my absolute favorite to write, so I wanted to expand on that idea. This new series will be called How About That Direct?, and as the name implies will be reviews of Nintendo Directs and similar presentations such as Sony’s State Of Play videos. Like the E3 posts, these will not be a news recap, but rather discussing what I liked, what I didn’t like, and the presentation itself. Earlier today, Nintendo announced the first Direct of the year, a Pokemon Direct, for Thursday morning. So that means the first entry will be on Thursday, and I’ll try my best not to be too salty about it not being a general Nintendo Direct.
So, this week’s two posts are pretty obvious, but what about on week’s where there isn’t a Direct? Well, you’ll get something else. Maybe it’ll be a first impressions post. Maybe it’ll be a full review of something new. Maybe it’ll be a full review of something older that I just wanted to talk about. I can tell you that next week, you can expect a first impressions post for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, which is pretty silly since there’s a full series about my playthrough of the Wii U version on this blog, but whatever.
Speaking of that full playthrough, if you’re a regular reader, you might have noticed that I didn’t mention a new Check-In series. As of right now, I don’t have any immediate plans to start one up. Obviously, I don’t want what happened to the Dragon Age II Check-In series, where I fell so far behind writing it that I beat the game before the second entry, to happen again. And it almost did. I was fulling intending to do a series for Yakuza 0, but got like halfway through and hadn’t even started writing. So, maybe in the future after I’m comfortable with this new schedule I’ll start one up again, but as of right now, there are no plans.
Alright, that’s what I got for you. I hope you look forward to more posts on here, and I’ll see you tomorrow for the return of Random Game Wednesdays!
