Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Demo Impressions

This is something I wasn’t expecting to be writing today. During today’s Pokemon Direct, Nintendo announced a remake of the first pair of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, combining them into a single game with a release date of March 6. Not only was this a complete surprise, but they also put out a demo today, and you can even carry your save data from it into the full game. As someone who’s never played a Mystery Dungeon game, this seemed like a great opportunity to see what they’re all about. Continue reading

How About That Direct? | Pokemon Direct 1/9/20

At the start of every year, Nintendo fans start to go a little crazy. There’s always an early Nintendo Direct that highlights what to expect In the first several months and sometimes stuff even further off. As such, it was a little disappointing when Nintendo announced a couple days ago that the first Direct of the year would be one focused on Pokemon, rather than a more general Nintendo Direct. But hey, I like Pokemon, so maybe there will be something cool here. Continue reading

Pokemon Let’s Go Chill Out

It was pretty easy to be skeptical about Pokemon Let’s Go when it was first revealed. Not only was it a remake of the first generation of Pokemon games, which already had a remake, but everything looked like it had been dumbed down to appeal to the crowd who had only played Pokemon Go, rather than fans of the core franchise. Both these things are true, but does that necessarily make it a bad game? Continue reading

Nintendo Had Mind-Blowing Reveals, But Could Have Shown More

Finishing off the E3 Press Conferences was the Nintendo Spotlight, a 25 minute pre-recorded video full of announcements and updated looks at games. Despite the short length, Nintendo managed to put a whole lot of great stuff in there, including a couple announcements that fans have been waiting forever to hear. This was probably my favorite E3 presentation, but it still wasn’t perfect. Continue reading

My Ten Favorite Games Of 2016

2016 was a pretty good year for video games. Unfortunately, I didn’t have nearly as much disposable income to buy games as I had in years past, and the end result is that a lot of the biggest games of the year, I haven’t played. I also, don’t own a PlayStation 4, so I haven’t played games like Uncharted 4 or The Last Guardian. But, I was still able to come up with a list of ten games that I played this year. It’s probably pretty different from most of the lists you’ve seen on other sites. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: Hey You, Pikachu! (N64)

Sometimes, games come out that are very difficult to describe. Maybe they’re overly complicated or maybe their objectives are just hard to put into words. And then there’s other times when you can describe the whole thing in a single sentence and then have to try to write a decently long entry anyway. Hey You, Pikachu is a game where you talk to Pikachu. That’s about it.  Continue reading

Circling Forward 11-22-16, The One Where I’m Excited About Everything

Did you know that it’s been 3852 days since Final Fantasy Versus XIII was announced? Back then, it wasn’t even clear what that game was. Was it another game in the Final Fantasy XIII universe? It didn’t sound like it, or look like it, but then why was it called “XIII”? And Versus what? But, after a decade of development, that kind of doesn’t matter anymore. It missed the entire generation of consoles it was originally supposed to be out on and got a name change. As hard as it is to believe, after all that time, Final Fantasy XV is out in a week. Continue reading
