I am not a football fan. That’s not to say that I’ll never enjoy watching a game from time to time, but I’ll never care enough to actually follow what’s going on during a season or have favorite players. That being said, Tecmo Super Bowl is one of my favorite video games of all time. It comes from an era where you didn’t need to be interested in a sport to enjoy a game based on it. It was just a simple, fun, fast-paced game. I like Tecmo Super Bowl so much, that I own the game on the NES, SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, and the Xbox Live Arcade remake Tecmo Bowl Throwback. Random Game Wednesdays: Turok: Rage Wars

I should love Turok: Rage Wars. The first two Turok games on the Nintendo 64 are among my favorite games on that console. I know some people will think this is crazy, but I honestly believe that Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is the best multiplayer shooter on the 64, even better than GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. So, a multiplayer focused spin-off seems right up my alley. I even like games that use multiplayer matches against bots as their single player content, like Unreal Tournament. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-In: Week 1

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a weird game. At it’s core, it’s a fairly standard JRPG, with turn-based combat and level-ups and all of that. Similar to the Persona series, it takes place in modern-day Japan, rather than the fantasy settings that genre is usually associated with. Unlike Persona though, it doesn’t follow the school life of it’s characters, focusing instead on more supernatural stuff as well as the characters becoming teen idols.  Continue reading →

Random Game Wednesdays: Sword of the Berserk: Guts’ Rage

It’s kind of weird that I own a copy of Sword of the Berserk: Guts’ Rage. It’s a Dreamcast game based on the manga and anime “Berserk”, which I’ve never read or seen. If I remember right, most of the coverage for the game before it was released focused on just how over the top the violence was. That’s probably why I ended up getting it. It’s actually kind of funny, because other than some blood splatter when you hit enemies, the level of violence on display doesn’t seem to be anything too spectacular.  Continue reading →

Announcing Quarter Circle Forward’s Next Weekly Series

Since I just finished playing through a long, Wii U exclusive JRPG, obviously I should just do that again. Starting next Sunday, I’ll be posting my progress through Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE every week. I have a habit of burning out on JRPGs before completing them, and I think the series I did on Xenoblade Chronicles X helped me finish it. So, let’s see if I can make it through this one.

When I started Random Game Wednesdays, I knew that eventually I would end up with a game that was way too long to properly discuss. Xenoblade Chronicles X Check-In: Week 15 FINALE

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally beat Xenoblade Chronicles X! Obviously, there’s still a lot of content I haven’t seen, but I’ve finished all the main story missions. So, I guess for one last time, let’s go over some numbers. My total playtime is exactly 78 hours, my main character is level 53, and I’ve completed through chapter 12 of the main story. Oh, and even though this has been true for the entire series so I shouldn’t have to say this, there will be spoilers. Continue reading →

Random Game Wednesdays: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

I thought I would try something a little different this week and play a SNES game. My SNES library is not nearly as large as my NES collection, but there’s still enough there to make for a decent variety of possible games. So, I went to my random number generator of choice and punched in my total number of SNES games. Surely, I wouldn’t end up with another licensed game, what were the chances.
