PlayDate in 2024

I mentioned this back in my Mars After Midnight review, but this has been the year that I finally spent serious time with my Playdate. I preordered it the day preorders became available, received it about a year later and then… goofed off with it for an hour or two and put it down. It’s not that I didn’t have fun with it, but there just was nothing there that really held my interest. But things changed this year.

November Writing Challenge

Have you heard of this NaNoWriMo writing challenge? It stands for National Novel Writing Month, and the idea is that you would write every single day of November to try to have a draft of a novel written by the end of the month. Well, I’m not planning on writing a novel, but I thought it would be fun to try to have a blog post written every day this month. So, this is the start of that.

Top 10 Most Anticipated Games Of 2023

2023 is shaping up to be a very good year for video games. With all the games coming out, I thought it would be fun to list my ten most anticipated games. Well, that and we’re on the last day of the week and I haven’t written a blog post yet and this seemed like something I could do pretty quick. But to give it at least a little effort, I’ve decided to list them in the order of my excitement, not simply by release date. So, here’s the list. Continue reading

Talking About That Nintendo Direct That Might Be Happening Soon

If you follow gaming rumors at all, you’ve almost certainly heard about the possible Nintendo Direct hitting in the coming weeks. Personally, I don’t think any of the “leaks” are real, but I do think they’re popping up now because a Direct being right around the corner makes a lot of sense. There’s almost always one in either January or February, and since we didn’t get one in January, it makes sense that we can expect one very soon.

E3(?) 2020 Predictions

This has been a pretty weird year, right? I don’t really need to get into how unprecedented the times are, you’ve heard it all already, but as a result, there is no E3 this year. Now, how am I supposed to do E3 predictions when there isn’t an E3?  Well, thankfully there’s a bunch of little events that more or less replace E3 this year, so we’ll just use those. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Beta Impressions

I was not expecting to be playing the private beta for The Division 2. Beta entry was a preorder bonus, and I definitely didn’t preorder the game. I didn’t even play the first one or have any interest in the second. But what I did do was watch about ten minutes of Inside Xbox on Mixer a couple days ago to get an exclusive compass for Sea Of Thieves, and apparently that also earned me beta access. I’m probably the least qualified person to talk about this game, but hey, I played for an hour or so, so here’s what I thought. Continue reading

Resident Evil 2 One-Shot Demo Impressions

Ever since the Resident Evil 2 remake was announced in a YouTube video with Capcom Producer Yoshiaki Hirabyashi wearing a shirt that said “WE DO IT” about three and a half years ago, I’ve been very excited to see how the game shapes up. The original version of the game is one of my favorite games in the series, and is arguably the best of the pre-RE4 games. When the game was finally shown at E3 this last year, it looked great, but it looked like it was Resident Evil 4 with 2’s story, which might be good for new fans, but could cost the original game some of its identity. Well, earlier today, Capcom released a thirty minute demo, giving us a taste of what we can expect. Continue reading
