E3 2021 Predictions

After taking last year off, E3 is back with an all digital show, and that means I’m back to make some predictions about it. I mean, I made predictions based on the weird amount of shows that popped up to fill in the void last year, so it’s not like I really went anywhere, but this time it’s for something that’s actually called E3! That being said, this is still another pretty weird year.

Impressions Of Mana

I know I’m coming to this first impressions piece for the Trials Of Mana demo really late. Usually the whole point of these things are to talk about my initial feelings on a game or a demo so that I can say things while the game is still relevant. After all, I’m not a professional so I start playing games the same time everyone else does. But, despite downloading it the day if was added to the eShop, I just played it last night. Can you blame me? Between Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Resident Evil 3, and Final Fantasy VII Remake (all of which I hope to have reviews for in the near future) when was I supposed to have time to play this thing? Well, now I have and I have things to say about it. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: Final Fantasy IX (Nintendo Switch)

Sometimes the random number generator that decides what I write for this feature is cruel. Today, it selected Final Fantasy IX, a long Japanese role-playing game, and one that I’ve already beaten. So what do I do, play the beginning again? But for what purpose, I’m not getting a new first impression out of it. Do I just load up my save? What will that do, other than look at what the end of the last dungeon looks like? It’s also not fresh enough in my mind to write an actual formal review of it. So, here’s me just rambling about FFIX for like 700 words or so. Continue reading

Why Did Square Even Bother To Have A Press Conference?

Square-Enix isn’t a company that often has a press conference at E3. To my knowledge, this is only the second, and that’s after taking a couple of years off. The last one was pretty rough, with just some rehashes of stuff we already knew about and a sequel to Nier that seemed like a terrible idea at the time. After that, it made sense that they wouldn’t hold another one. But they decided to this year, so they must have something to show off, right? Right? Continue reading

Top Ten Games Of 2017

This was a much crazier year than last year. When I had to make my top ten last year, I had only played a total of thirteen games all year. That’s how games I don’t even particularly like, such as Pokemon Go, made it on to my list. This year, I’ve played over thirty. That means that not only did I have to make way more cuts, but there isn’t a single game on here that I didn’t love. That’s better if you ask me. Continue reading

My Ten Favorite Games Of 2016

2016 was a pretty good year for video games. Unfortunately, I didn’t have nearly as much disposable income to buy games as I had in years past, and the end result is that a lot of the biggest games of the year, I haven’t played. I also, don’t own a PlayStation 4, so I haven’t played games like Uncharted 4 or The Last Guardian. But, I was still able to come up with a list of ten games that I played this year. It’s probably pretty different from most of the lists you’ve seen on other sites. Continue reading

Rise of the Tomb Raider: First Impressions

It feels kind of strange writing a “first impressions” piece on a game that came out almost a year ago. I got my copy in March, at the same time that Xenoblade Chronicles X had completely taken over my life, causing it to just sit on my shelf all this. So, the game may be pretty old by now, but it’s new to me. And since the PlayStation 4 release of the game was earlier this week, it’s new to a whole bunch of other people too. So, hey, why not? Here’s my first impressions of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Continue reading
