Random Game Wednesdays: Pilotwings

Pilotwings is kind of a weird game. I don’t mean that negatively, it’s just not the kind of game that you would typically think of when you think of Nintendo games. It’s not an epic adventure and there’s not much in the way of action. Rather, it’s a game about earning various levels of your pilot’s license by completing different tasks. Although it doesn’t sound very exciting, Pilotwings definitely stands out as something unique in the SNES library.  Continue reading

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-in: Week 6

I didn’t get nearly as much done in Tokyo Mirage Sessions this week, so I doubt this post is going to be very long. I didn’t get any side quests done, but I did complete chapter 4. As always, before we get started on the summary of what I did, let’s go over some numbers. My total play time is 25 hours and 45 minutes, Itsuki is level 42, and as I said before, I’ve played through chapter 4. That’s about three hours, two levels, and one chapter accomplished. Random Game Wednesdays: Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise From the Ashes

With the Dreamcast turning 17 just a few days ago, I thought it’d be fun to play another Dreamcast game this week. This time, the random number generator gave me a game that I spent a lot of time with back in the day, but almost never hear anyone talk about. That game is Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise From the Ashes, a Dreamcast exclusive that came out within the first year of the console’s lifespan. Continue reading

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-in: Week 5

Once again, it’s time to see how much progress I’ve made in Tokyo Mirage Sessions. This week, I made a little bit of story progress, but most of my time was spent with side quests. While the story has been very consistant in quality, it’s the side quests that I’ve enjoyed the most, so I have a tendency to work on them as soon as they unlock. Plus, they grant new abilities that make the dungeons easier. Anyway, before I get into the bulk of what I did this week, let’s go over some numbers. My total play time is just under 23 hours. Itsuki, the main character, is level 40. I’m part way through chapter 4. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: Paper Mario

Using a random number generator to decide what game you’re going to write about each Wednesday can lead to some interesting results. In a lot of cases, you end up with games that not a lot of people have even heard of. But there’s just as much of a chance that you end up with a game that’s considered an absolute classic. This week, it gave me the Nintendo 64 RPG, Paper Mario. Continue reading

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-in: Week 4

Once again, it’s time to see what I’ve been up to in Tokyo Mirage Sessions. This week, I completed the third chapter and did some more side quests. Before I get into all that though, I have to start this post the same way I start all of these posts, with some numbers. My current play time is 17 hours and 50 minutes, my main character is level 34, and as previously stated, I’ve played through chapter 3 of the story. Continue reading

So… Where’s the New TMS Check-In?

As you’ve probably noticed, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-In is late this week. Both it at the previous Check-In series, Xenoblade Chronicles X, are due every Sunday. Unfortunately, as I write this, it’s just about 8:45 on Monday and I  don’t have it ready yet. So, what’s going on?

On Sunday, I had to work, followed by a fantasy football draft, and then I had to be in bed early before work the next day. I had hoped to squeeze it in somewhere, but it didn’t happen. Okay, so I’ll just do it on Monday. Well, the last few days, I’ve been experiencing some pain in my chest, so I went in to urgent care to get it checked out. They sent me to the ER and I basically spent my day there. I’m okay, but there went all my time to write about JRPGs.

So, Week 3 of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-In should be out tomorrow. And since I have your attention, I’ll fill you in on what to expect from the blog. Wednesday will be Random Game Wednesdays, like always. Also, I’m currently playing through Metroid Prime: Federation Force and will review it when I’m finished. I thought about doing a “first impressions” post about it, but I figured since I had already done one of those for Blast Ball, I should just wait until I can review the whole game. And finally, since the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is almost out, I thought it’d be cool to play the Xbox version so I can offer up my opinion on the game.

So, that’s what’s going on with this week’s Check-In and what to expect coming up. Hopefully there won’t be another delay like this soon. Thank you for your patience!
