Random Game Wednesdays: Anticipation (NES)

Some games are so simple in nature that I’m honestly not sure if I’d be able to make a blog post that was decently long before running out of things to say. But, it’s Wednesday, so I have to write about the game that the random number generator gives me. This week it gave me Anticipation, a 1988 board game style video game from Rare. It’s actually a game I like a lot, and one that I was kind of disappointed to see not included in Rare Replay. Continue reading

So, What’s Replacing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-in?

Earlier this week, I finally finished playing through Tokyo Mirage Sessions, ending another weekly series. The whole point of these weekly series’ is to make sure that no matter how busy I am or how slow a news week it is, I will always have at least two posts each week. I don’t have to think about what I’m going to write for Random Game Wednesdays, because the random number generator handles it for me, and I didn’t have to think about Tokyo Mirage Sessions or Xenoblade Chronicles X because I just stuck with the same game for weeks on end. But now what am I going to do? Continue reading

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-in: Week 11

It’s that time again. Let’s take a look at how my progress in Tokyo Mirage Sessions is going. This week, I got further in the main story, did the final side quest, and got some grinding done in preparation for the final boss. You know the drill by now, before we get to all that, we have to talk numbers. Itsuki is currently level 61, I’m still in chapter 6, and my current play time is 46 hours and 44 minutes. Nintendo Switch is Exactly What we Thought it Would be and it Still Blew me Away

I’ve been following Nintendo NX rumors for a very long time, basically as long as Nintendo NX rumors were a thing. I knew that the majority of them were going to turn out to be nonsense, but I needed to know what everyone was saying about the console. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone. Every day I would check Emily Rogers’ Twitter and blog, a Twitter account called “Iamsherlock1889”, and of course the Nintendo NX subreddit. It seemed like everyone had an idea of what the NX was and had a completely dependable but anonymous source. And then the Eurogamer NX leak happened. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll

I thought I’d do things a little bit differently for Random Game Wednesdays this week. If you’re new here, the way that I decide what game I’m going to play for this feature is pretty simple. I choose a console, with no real rules on how to choose. Then, I count how many games I own for that console. I then go to a random number generator and enter the number of games as the highest possible number. The generator spits me out a number, and I count that number of spots on my game shelf to determine the game. For this week, instead of picking a console, I picked Rare Replay for the Xbox One. Rare Replay contains 30 games, so I entered 30 as the highest number. It gave me “11”. The eleventh game on the main menu is Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll. Continue reading

So… Where’s the New TMS Check-In?

As you’ve probably noticed, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-In is late this week. Both it at the previous Check-In series, Xenoblade Chronicles X, are due every Sunday. Unfortunately, as I write this, it’s just about 8:45 on Monday and I  don’t have it ready yet. So, what’s going on?

On Sunday, I had to work, followed by a fantasy football draft, and then I had to be in bed early before work the next day. I had hoped to squeeze it in somewhere, but it didn’t happen. Okay, so I’ll just do it on Monday. Well, the last few days, I’ve been experiencing some pain in my chest, so I went in to urgent care to get it checked out. They sent me to the ER and I basically spent my day there. I’m okay, but there went all my time to write about JRPGs.

So, Week 3 of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Check-In should be out tomorrow. And since I have your attention, I’ll fill you in on what to expect from the blog. Wednesday will be Random Game Wednesdays, like always. Also, I’m currently playing through Metroid Prime: Federation Force and will review it when I’m finished. I thought about doing a “first impressions” post about it, but I figured since I had already done one of those for Blast Ball, I should just wait until I can review the whole game. And finally, since the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is almost out, I thought it’d be cool to play the Xbox version so I can offer up my opinion on the game.

So, that’s what’s going on with this week’s Check-In and what to expect coming up. Hopefully there won’t be another delay like this soon. Thank you for your patience!

Random Game Wednesdays: Tecmo Super Bowl (PlayStation)

I am not a football fan. That’s not to say that I’ll never enjoy watching a game from time to time, but I’ll never care enough to actually follow what’s going on during a season or have favorite players. That being said, Tecmo Super Bowl is one of my favorite video games of all time. It comes from an era where you didn’t need to be interested in a sport to enjoy a game based on it. It was just a simple, fun, fast-paced game. I like Tecmo Super Bowl so much, that I own the game on the NES, SNES, Genesis, PlayStation, and the Xbox Live Arcade remake Tecmo Bowl Throwback. And of all those versions, there’s only one that I don’t like. Can you guess which one that is? Continue reading

Announcing Quarter Circle Forward’s Next Weekly Series

Since I just finished playing through a long, Wii U exclusive JRPG, obviously I should just do that again. Starting next Sunday, I’ll be posting my progress through Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE every week. I have a habit of burning out on JRPGs before completing them, and I think the series I did on Xenoblade Chronicles X helped me finish it. So, let’s see if I can make it through this one.
