After a particularly frustrating night of being in virtual lines and refreshing web pages, I somehow succeeded in preordering a Nintendo Switch 2. I’m not going to go into too many details, but it was Best Buy that worked out for me in the end. I just thought I’d give a quick update on what you can expect to see on June 5th on this blog.

First and foremost, there will be a first impressions post on the hardware itself. I don’t write a lot of hardware focused posts, so we’ll see how that turns out. Then, there will also be a separate first impressions post on Mario Kart World, as I did preorder the bundle. I haven’t fully decided on what other games to pick up at launch just yet, but I doubt I’ll find time on launch day to do a third blog post, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do something later, but we’ll see.

Speaking of launch titles, there’s a few I’m strongly considering. Cyberpunk 2077 is the front runner for me, as I don’t own it on any other platforms and this seems like a good opportunity to check it out. I’m also thinking Street Fighter VI, which I already own on Xbox, but having it on a handheld sounds great and it comes with all the DLC, which I haven’t bought any of. Then there’s Final Fantasy VII: Remake, which is purely because it’s cool that it’s on a Nintendo handheld. And finally, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. I have pretty limited Rune Factory experience, but seems like a good way to spend the early days with the Switch 2.
