My Most Anticipated Games Of 2025 So Far

We don’t know all that many 2025 releases just yet, but there’s at least enough to put together a list of my most anticipated games. I did write a most anticipated list back in 2023, but that was for the current year and we had a better idea of what was coming out. It may be small, but here is my list, at least for now.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

Early next year, a remaster of the 2010 Wii game, Donkey Kong Country Returns, will release on the Switch. I actually didn’t play that much of the original, but played way more of its Wii U sequel, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Both these games were made by Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios, who always make great games even if it takes a very long time. I’m looking forward to giving the game more of a chance this time around.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter is a series I like a lot, but I seem to play less and less of them with each release. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was the one that I stuck with the longest, and it was also the first one I ever played. But, every time a new one comes out, I always get really excited, thinking about just how much I loved 3. Will Wilds be more of that? Or will this be the one that really holds my attention for a long time? I guess we will find out.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game

As I’m sure most people reading this blog know, I love Animal Crossing. What you might not know though, is that I love Lord of the Rings. With that in mind, an Animal Crossing inspired Lord of the Rings game, taking place in the Shire, is very appealing to me. I feel like this one could either way, being something I play constantly or something that I only put a little time into, but I am mostly optimistic. Here’s hoping it lives up to its potential.

The Switch 2

We still don’t know when the Switch 2 is coming or what it’s called or what any of its launch games will be, but we know it should be out next year. Since writing my list of features I wanted for it, Nintendo has confirmed backwards compatibility, so that’s great. I’m always excited for whatever Nintendo is doing next, so whatever big games will be launching with this new system will automatically be my most anticipated.

How about you? Anything you’re looking forward to that I didn’t mention? Let me comments.
