I realized today that I never did a results post for my E3 predictions this year. It’s way, way too late for that now, but you know what? I’m writing a post every day this month, so why not finally talk about how I did. Feel free to go back and look at what I was saying back in May (yes, May!) before seeing how I did.
Summer Game Fest: Opening Night Live

I didn’t get a single prediction right. OD wasn’t shown, and honestly, at this point I bet we don’t see it until after Death Stranding 2 is out. Silksong still doesn’t have a release date, and I kind of can’t believe I was confidant enough to make that my “pretty sure” bet. And then of course, we didn’t get Shenmue IV. Maybe some day though!
Xbox Games Showcase

My first prediction was that the next Call of Duty: Black Ops would be announced, and it ended up actually getting announced before the show. It was still a big part of the show though, and it wasn’t announced when I made the prediction, so I’m going to count it. My “pretty sure” bet was Gears of War 6, which I’m giving myself a point for. Yes, Gears of War: E-Day is a prequel, not a sequel, but c’mon. It’s the next Gears of War, it doesn’t seem to be a spinoff, this counts. Feel free to argue. And finally, no, we did not get Banjo-Threeie. But, by my count, that puts me at two points!
Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft’s show was another one where I got nothing right. No new Far Cry. No new Rayman. No Beyond Good and Evil 2 showing up in a new form. I’m still convinced that last one will happen though, especially since the recent Beyond Good and Evil remaster has a new quest that leads into this nebulous sequel. But as it stands, I’m still at two points.
Nintendo Direct

My “Sure Thing” bet was the long rumored Zelda Wii U remasters finally getting announced. That didn’t happen. I still feel like they’re going to, it’s going to be a very late Switch release to appease people who don’t upgrade to the Switch 2. But nothing yet. My “Pretty Sure” was that we’d finally see Metroid Prime 4, and we did! It even has a subtitle, Beyond. And then we didn’t get an announcement of StarTropics 3. So That’s three points for me!
PlayStation Showcase

And we’re back to a show that I completely botched. Resident Evil 9 is still not announced. We haven’t seen anything on Marvel’s Wolverine since the original announcement trailer. And most depressingly, we still don’t have a PaRappa The Rapper 3. But maybe with a little faith, we will some day.
So that’s three out of fifteen predictions correct! I really couldn’t remember what I had predicted and thought that I had done even worse than that, so I’m going to call this a victory. Join me next year when I hopefully get this post out in a much more timely manner.
