It’s that time of the year again. E3 itself may be gone forever, but video game companies will still absolutely make big announcements in May and June. As always, I’m here to make predictions about them. There will almost certainly be more, but I’ve chosen five shows to make predictions for. Three that we already know the dates for, one that we know the month it’ll happen in, and one that according to leaks should be happening in the next week or so.
If you’re new here, I’ll go over the rules of these predictions. If you’ve been around here before, feel free to skip this paragraph, you’ve read it before. For each show, I’m going to make three predictions. The first is the “Sure Thing”, something that I’m very confident will happen. The second is the “Pretty Sure”, which is, as you might expect, something I’m pretty sure of. And finally, there’s the ”Shot In The Dark”, which is something that most likely won’t happen, but in the off chance that it does, I want to be able to say that I called it.
Okay, with all that out of the way, let’s get to the predictions.
Summer Game Fest (June 7)
Sure Thing: We’ll get our first real look at OD.

Summer Game Fest is the hardest one to predict, because just about anything could be there. But we all know that Hideo Kojima has a tendency to show up to any show that Geoff Keighley is in charge of. I don’t think another look at Death Stranding 2 would be that exciting, and I think Physint would more likely show up at a Sony show, and it’s probably too soon for it anyway. So that leaves Kojima’s other game, OD, which we know basically nothing about. I think that’ll change at this show.
Pretty Sure: Silksong will get a release date.
I’ve actually never played Hollow Knight, so I don’t have any real attachment to it or its upcoming sequel, Silksong. But it’s been a very long time, and it seems like we’ll see it soon. I think a general show like Summer Game Fest makes more sense than a platform exclusive one.
Shot In The Dark: Shenmue IV is announced.
That’d be pretty cool, right?
Xbox Games Showcase (June 9)
Sure Thing: The next Call Of Duty: Black Ops will be announced.
I kind of don’t even feel like I need to explain this one. There’s going to be a new Call Of Duty, they just wrapped up the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy last year, and there’s been hints that Black Ops is next up. I don’t know if it’ll be a reboot or a continuation, but there will be a Black Ops at the Xbox show.
Pretty Sure: Gears 6 is announced.
This is another one that just makes sense. Gears 5 came out a while ago, there hasn’t been anything from that team since, and it just feels right.
Shot In The Dark: Banjo-Threeie

This is going to be my Xbox shot in the dark until the day it actually happens.
Ubisoft Forward (June 10)
Sure Thing: Far Cry 7 is announced.
Ubisoft is another one that is kind of difficult for me, just because I’m not that clued into their games. But it’s been a few years since 6, and it’s a pretty dependable series for the company. So, I think it’ll be there.
Pretty Sure: Rayman is back.

This one feels less likely than a Pretty Sure should be, but not impossible. I feel like “where’s Rayman?” has been a question floating around a lot lately, and he did show up in that Mario And Rabbids DLC, so he’s at least in Ubisoft’s mind.
Shot In The Dark: Beyond Good And Evil 2 is rebooted again.
I don’t know if they ever actually cancelled the previous iteration of Beyond Good And Evil 2, but it’s pretty safe to say that we’ll never see that game again. That being said, what if we got our third attempt at making that game?
Nintendo Direct (June Someday)
Sure Thing: The Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, and remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and 3 are all real.
2024 will be the last holiday season with the Switch as Nintendo’s main platform. To me, that says that we’re not going to get too many big new games for the system. But what we will get is all the remasters that have been leaked over the years that we still haven’t seen, bringing in money while the core teams work on Switch 2 launch titles.
Pretty Sure: Metroid Prime 4 is finally shown.

Announced back in the Switch’s first year on the market, we still haven’t actually seen Metroid Prime 4. If it’s still destined to be on the original Switch, it would almost have to be shown at this show. The only thing that’s giving me doubts is the possibility that it’s been shifted to a Switch 2 title.
Shot In The Dark: StarTropics 3.
I mean, practically every other Nintendo franchise has been revived, it has to be StarTropics’ turn soon.
PlayStation Showcase (I don’t know)
Sure Thing: Update on Marvel’s Wolverine.
I’m pretty sure Insomniac’s next game, Wolverine, is a ways out still, but it’s got to be in a showable state. Sony knows that it would create a lot of hype to show this game off as soon as possible.
Pretty Sure: Resident Evil 9 is announced.

I’m not entirely sure that the next mainline Resident Evil game would be revealed at a Sony show, but it’s definitely not impossible. The Resident Evil 2 remake was first shown at a Sony E3 press conference, so I could see them doing it again. I also feel like a new numbered entry is more likely than another remake.
Shot In The Dark: PaRappa The Rapper 3
I just want a new PaRappa game, okay?
And that’s my predictions! Are they reasonable? Are they ridiculous? Let me know what you think in the comments.
