It’s been a little while since the last time I did one one of my “Check-In” series. I’ve spent that time debating on what game to do next and when to do it. After a lot of thinking, it came down to Fallout: New Vegas or Dragon Age: Origins. Dragon Age won out in the end, but I think I’ll still end up doing Fallout some time down the line. As for when, the first episode will be up next week. Like my previous Check-Ins, I’ll be aiming for a Sunday release, but it might be a day or two later. If you’re new to my blog, a Check-In series is a series of super spoilery blog posts where I play through a long game and write about my experiences with it. Think of it as kind of like a let’s play, but in written form. I do these for a couple of reasons. One, it’s good, weekly content. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with topics to write about, but this way, I won’t have to come up with anything. That doesn’t mean that I won’t have anything else (I’m hoping to have a review of Resident Evil 7 up some time this week), but it makes sure that I’m always writing something.
The other reason is that I have a weird habit of dropping long games before I’ve finished them. By doing this series, I’m helping myself stay focused on longer games enough to actually beat them. The timing of this series is a little weird, because The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is out in about a month. But, I figured if I didn’t get going on it soon, who knows when I’d actually start?
This will be my third Check-In series. Previously, I did one on Xenoblade Chronicles X and another on Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and I encourage you to check out both if you’d like to have an idea of what to expect. Dragon Age will be a little different, because I’ve actually started this game multiple times, but never got very far. So the beginning won’t be me discovering the game for the first time. But we’ll get to stuff I’ve never seen pretty quickly. I hope you’ll stick with me for this journey and have fun reading.
