2024 Game Of The Year Eligible Games!

It’s just about time for my top ten games of the year list! If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you probably already know the rules, but here they are anyway. To be eligible for my list a game needs to have its first release in the United States happen in the year 2024, full remakes count but not remasters, and I have to have played them. I thought I’d do something different this year and post every game that is eligible. Now, when your favorite doesn’t show up, you can look here and see if I even played it.

Top Ten Games of 2023

It’s the start of the new year and that means it’s time to reflect on my favorite games of last year. As I do every year, I will be listing my ten favorite games of the year, with a couple rules. One is that remasters don’t qualify, as these are not new games, however full remakes would count. This is a weird year for that, as there are a couple examples of games that really walk the line between remake and remaster, and I may have broken that rule depending on how you look at it, maybe even how I looked at it if you go back and read what I originally said about it earlier in the year. The other rule is that the game had to release for the first time in the US in 2023. I don’t think there’s any weird examples of that with what I played, but it does come up in some previous years.

Top Ten Games of 2020

I’m pretty sure most people would agree that this has not been a very good year. On the plus side though, there has been a surprisingly large amount of really good video games to keep us distracted from everything else. The following list is my ten favorite games of the year. Some of these choices might seem weird, in fact there’s one towards the top of the list that I kind of doubt you’re going to see on too many other people’s lists at all. But that’s why it’s my list of favorites, and not me trying to make an objective argument for each one.

Top Ten Games Of 2018

2018 was a very weird year for me. On one hand, it was a very good year with plenty of great games, even if it didn’t reach the same heights as 2017. On the other hand, this is a year that I struggled to find time to actually play those games. As a result, a lot of the games on this list are ones that I haven’t finished. But, regardless, these are my ten favorite games of the year. Continue reading

Top Ten Games Of 2017

This was a much crazier year than last year. When I had to make my top ten last year, I had only played a total of thirteen games all year. That’s how games I don’t even particularly like, such as Pokemon Go, made it on to my list. This year, I’ve played over thirty. That means that not only did I have to make way more cuts, but there isn’t a single game on here that I didn’t love. That’s better if you ask me. Continue reading

My Ten Favorite Games Of 2016

2016 was a pretty good year for video games. Unfortunately, I didn’t have nearly as much disposable income to buy games as I had in years past, and the end result is that a lot of the biggest games of the year, I haven’t played. I also, don’t own a PlayStation 4, so I haven’t played games like Uncharted 4 or The Last Guardian. But, I was still able to come up with a list of ten games that I played this year. It’s probably pretty different from most of the lists you’ve seen on other sites. Continue reading
