Hey, It’s 2020!

I sure didn’t write a lot last year. Well, now it’s 2020, and a lot of my excuses for that are gone. So, here’s a quick post to let you all know what to expect from this blog this year. Continue reading
This has been kind of a rough year for the blog. With me being busy with real life, I only managed to write nine posts, this being the tenth. But, believe it or not, I did actually play some video games, and I’m going to tell you my ten favorite ones!
If you go on the Nintendo Switch eShop and look at the best sellers list right now, you’ll find a game basically no one had heard of sitting in second place, just under Untitled Goose Game and above a pre-order for Luigi’s Mansion 3. That game is Revenge of the Bird King, and despite the fact that no one has heard of it, it’s pretty clear how it rose up the ranks. If you go to the great deals section of the eShop, you’ll see that the game is currently only nine cents. Surely, a lot of people bought the game for that reason alone right? Hell, I know I did, and I used Gold Coins instead of spending real money. So now a lot of people have this thing, but is it any good? Continue reading
Nintendo has a decent history with fitness based games. Previously, they’ve put out multiple games in the Wii Fit series, targeting the more casual crowd that made the Wii the success that it was. I actually used the Wii Fit version, Wii Fit U, for a while. And while I think it was a very well made fitness game, it didn’t do much to keep me attached to it besides wanting to work out. With their newest attempt, Ring Fit Adventure, they’ve gone in a decidedly different direction. Continue reading
It’s that time again! Every year, about a month off from E3, I write a list of predictions for the press conferences. It’s going to be a little smaller than last year, as a couple companies aren’t having conferences this year. But that’s okay, I’ll still do predictions for the ones that are happening. Continue reading
Despite the fact that Labo hasn’t exactly taken the world by storm, Nintendo keeps pushing what their weird cardboard toys are capable of further and further. I didn’t end up writing about it, but I was really impressed by the third one, the Vehicle Kit. While it was pretty simple, it had a fully realized open world game with three vehicles that you could quickly swap to. I thought this was probably as far as the concept could go. But, then the VR Kit came out. Continue reading
It’s been a while since I did a new installment of Random Game Wednesdays, and I thought that for the grand return of the feature, I should go to a new source of games. So, I went with the NES library offered with Nintendo Switch Online. There’s already a decent amount of stuff in there, with favorites, more obscure games, and weird enhanced versions of games, most of which I haven’t touched. But of course, the random number generator decided to throw me a game I’ve played a million times before. Continue reading
You ever have big plans for something and they just didn’t work out? That was me with this Check-In series. I just couldn’t find the time or the energy to actually write any of the posts, although I did still play a couple hours a week. I ended up finishing the game quite a while ago and had only written the first entry in the series. As such, this is going to be more of a review than a typical Check-In post, but I still have to start with some numbers. The game is completed, it took just under 25 hours, and Ivan Ooze is level 21. Continue reading
It feels a little weird writing a first impressions piece on a game that I obsessed over a couple decades ago, but here we are. Earlier today, the Nintendo 64 game Turok: Dinosaur Hunter released on Nintendo Switch, a port of last year’s Xbox One version, which was itself a port of a PC version from a few years earlier. But I didn’t play those versions. I did, however, spend a good chunk of my day with the Switch release. Continue reading
I was not expecting to be playing the private beta for The Division 2. Beta entry was a preorder bonus, and I definitely didn’t preorder the game. I didn’t even play the first one or have any interest in the second. But what I did do was watch about ten minutes of Inside Xbox on Mixer a couple days ago to get an exclusive compass forĀ Sea Of Thieves, and apparently that also earned me beta access. I’m probably the least qualified person to talk about this game, but hey, I played for an hour or so, so here’s what I thought. Continue reading
