E3 Or Whatever Predictions 2025

It’s that time of the year again. Big video game announcements are just around the corner, and I’m going to make some predictions about them. They’re probably pretty bad predictions, my results never turn out too accurate, but it’s fun to do anyway. This is also an interesting year as Nintendo will have just released the Switch 2 when these shows air, and Xbox is in a very different place than it traditionally has been. But here’s my predictions!

If this is the first time you’ve read my predictions, let me go over the rules. For each press conference, or showcase, or whatever we call them now, I’m going to make three predictions. The first is the “Sure Thing”, which is something I’m very confident of. The next is “Pretty Sure”, which seems likely but I’m less sure about. And finally, there’s the “Shot In The Dark”, which will almost certainly not happen, but in the off chance that they do, I want to be able to say that I called it. And With that, here’s the predictions!

Summer Game Fest Opening Night Live (June 6th)

Sure Thing: OD will be fully revealed.

Hideo Kojima showing up to Sumer Game Fest is always a safe bet. With Death Stranding 2 releasing coming out at the end of June, it’s time to finally start showing what the other games that Kojima is working on actually are. OD was teased before Physint, so I think that’s what we’re going to see first and will likely see here.

Pretty Sure: Hollow Knight: Silksong release date revealed.

It’s finally time, right? Silksong has been in development for so long, but was teased again at the end of the Switch 2 Direct. I think we’re definitely going to see it during this time period, the thing I’m less sure of which showcase it’ll be at. Summer Game Fest is platform agnostic, so it seems like a good choice, and after all this time, I think it’s time for a release date.

Shot In The Dark: Shenmue IV

I have no idea what showcase would have a Shenmue IV announcement. But it’s also probably not going to happen, so I’ll just stick it here. It’d be pretty cool if it happens.

I just looked back at last year’s predictions, and these are the exact same ones I said then. That’s pretty funny.

Xbox Games Showcase (June 8th)

Sure Thing: Perfect Dark release date revealed.

It’s been a while since the last time we heard anything from the Perfect Dark reboot. It was looking really solid the last time we saw it though, so I think it’s time to let us know when we can play it.

Pretty Sure: Fallout 3 Remastered

Fallout 3 Remastered is absolutely happening. The only thing that gives me doubt that it’ll be at this show is that it might be too soon after Oblivion Remastered. Fallout 3 was the Fallout that I was most attached to, so really looking forward to this happening.

Shot In The Dark: Banjo-Threeie

This’ll be right one of these years, right?

Nintendo Direct (Unannounced)

Sure Thing: New Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing New Horizons was one of the biggest successes of the Nintendo Switch. There’s no way that Nintendo doesn’t have plans to get a new one out sooner rather than later. It’s also been five years since New Horizons came out, so I fully believe that they could be a long ways into development already.

Pretty Sure: New 2D Metroid

Metroid has really been seeing something of a revival lately. Metroid Dread, which was my game of the year back in 2021, proved that there’s still a huge desire for 2D games. And of course, we already know about Metroid Prime 4, a new 3D one. I don’t know if the game would release this year, but I do believe that there’s a new 2D one coming out and we’ll hear about it soon.

Shot In The Dark: StarTropics 3

Much like Banjo-Threeie, I’ll be right about this some day.

PlayStation Showcase (Unannounced)

Sure Thing: Wolverine fully revealed, with release date.

This is another one that I guessed last year. But c’mon, it HAS to be time to show this game. We’re now a couple years past Insomniac’s last game, Spider-Man 2, and many years past Wolverine’s announcement. It’s time to see this thing, and I think it has to be most of the way done.

Pretty Sure: A new Twisted Metal

I think Sony’s biggest issue this generation has been a lack of smaller games that don’t take a decade and billions of dollars to make. I also think Sony is aware of this. Twisted Metal is a game that could absolutely work as a smaller project. There’s also a TV show out, and it always seemed weird that there wasn’t a current game to go along with it. So yeah, I think there’s a good chance of this one.

Shot In The Dark: PaRappa The Rapper 3

Ones of these years.. one of these years.

Ubisoft Forward (Unannounced)

Sure Thing: Splinter Cell revealed.

I’m not crazy right? Ubisoft said a long while ago that they working on something Splinter Cell related. It’s time to see what that is. I haven’t played a Splinter Cell game in a really long time, but I’d love to see what a new one is.

Pretty Sure: A new Ghost Recon is announced

Ghost Recon is another series that’s been quiet lately. You used to get multiple Tom Clancy games a year, but lately it’s just been updates to Rainbow Six Siege. While I think Splinter Cell is the more likely Tom Clancy game to see at this show, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get both.

Shot In The Dark: A New Rayman

This one’s a bummer because at one point in time I had this as a Pretty Sure guess. But it no longer feels very likely, but it sure would be cool.

And there’s my predictions! What do you all think? Are my guesses solid or stupid? Do you have any of your own?
