Random Game Wednesdays: Super Mario Kart (SNES)

Random Game Wednesdays is kind of a weird series on this blog. Because I let a random number generator choose the game I cover, we end up with a strange assortment, and you never quite know what you’re going to get. Sometimes I get obscure games that have been sitting on my shelf ever since I found them at Goodwill years ago. Other times, I get undisputed classics. This week is the latter. Continue reading

Dragon Age: Origins Check-In Update

As I’m sure everyone has noticed, week 1 of Dragon Age: Origins Check-In is not up yet. My actual job has been really crazy this week. I haven’t had a single day that I didn’t end up working overtime. I was planning on getting it written afer work yesterday, but after over two hours of overtime, the only thing I could get myself to do last night was lay on the couch, watch YouTube, and play Fire Emblem Heroes. And now it’s Wednesday and I have to work on Random Game Wednesdays.

So, yes, I’m still planning on getting it up this week, just later than I originally wanted. I might even get it up tonight, but that’s not a promise. Thanks for your patience, I’ll get it up as soon as I can.

Fire Emblem Heroes: First Impressions

I’m probably the last person who should be talking about Fire Emblem Heroes. I have almost no connection with the series, having only played some of Awakening and all of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. To me, Lucina is the character I play as the most in Super Smash Bros., and the fact that she was in another game is almost irrelevant. That’s not to say I don’t like Fire Emblem, what I’ve played has been great. I just don’t have a lot of experience with it. But despite all that, when Nintendo puts out a new free-to-play mobile game, I need to see what it’s about. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: R.C. Pro-Am (Rare Replay)

Despite being a huge fan of Rare and the NES, R.C. Pro-Am is kind of a blind spot for me. It’s a game I had certainly heard about a lot, and it’s possible that I may have played it at one point in time, but I have no real memory of it. Well, today that changed. I used the random number generator that I always use for these posts and it gave me Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, but since I had already covered that one, I tried a second time and it gave me R.C. Pro-Am. Continue reading

Random Game Wednesdays: Mario Bros. (NES)

Everyone remembers Super Mario Bros. It’s a classic, and for good reason. It also spawned Nintendo’s biggest franchise, which is still going strong to this day. But, at least anecdotally, I’ve noticed a surprising amount of people who aren’t aware that Super Mario Bros. isn’t the first game in the Mario series. That would be Mario Bros., an arcade game that came out in 1983 and was itself a spinoff of Donkey Kong. The game was also released on the NES, which is the version that I played. Continue reading

My Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch

About one week ago, Nintendo finally gave us some firm details on their next console, the Switch. I was obviously extremely excited to finally learn about the console’s release date, price, launch lineup, and whatever else they wanted to tell us. A week later and with plenty of time to ponder everything, I’m still very positive on the whole thing. It’s not perfect, but it is really cool. Continue reading

Killer Instinct Gold Gameplay Video

Hey everyone. Just like last week, I decided to upload my play session of Killer Instinct Gold to my new YouTube channel. There’s no talking or editing or anything, it’s just raw footage of me playing Killer Instinct pretty badly. If you want to check it out, you can see it right here. Let me know what you think of these. Is it interesting to see my actual play session after reading my Random Game Wednesdays post?

Random Game Wednesdays: Killer Instinct Gold (N64)

Killer Instinct will always hold a special place in my heart. I received my Super Nintendo towards the end of its lifespan, and Killer Instinct was the game packed in, and as such, I played it all the time. It was also the first game with blood in it that I was allowed to own, so that’s kind of cool. But despite all that, the game’s sequel, called Killer Instinct 2 in arcades and Killer Instinct Gold on Nintendo 64, kind of came and went for me. Continue reading

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon Gameplay Video

I had an idea while  working on this week’s Random Game Wednesdays. When I play an old game for the blog, I record it using Pinnacle Studio and then take screenshots from that recording. I thought it might be fun to share the video of my time with the game. I don’t want you to expect too much though. There’s no editing, no clever commentary, just the raw footage of my time with the game. If you’d like to see it, you can check it out right here. I don’t know how often I’ll do this kind of thing, but if you want to see more, let me know in the comments.
