I have played Animal Crossing: New Horizons every day since the day it came out. I’ve slowed down a lot since the early days, mostly just saying hi to all my neighbors and digging up all my fossils and little things like that lately. With the successor to the Nintendo Switch coming some time next year, I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to see in the next Animal Crossing game. So here’s a few things I’d like to see.

I don’t normally play a whole lot of mobile games, but I did grow up playing the Pokemon trading card game. So when a new Pokemon mobile game based on the trading card game became available, I thought it would be fun to give it a look. Will this be like most mobile games I play and I only stick with it for about a week, or will this be like Fire Emblem Heroes, where I’m still playing every day?

Any time I get an RPG for Random Game Wednesdays, I feel a little bit of dread. I typically only play about half an hour of a game before writing about it for these posts, and that’s not a lot of time to get a good feel for them. Thankfully, I’m pretty familiar with Final Fantasy VIII. It’s actually always been one of my favorites in the series, however it’s also a game that came out when I was in middle school. Considering how much criticism the game gets, it’s definitely possible that my love for it is mostly nostalgia. But hey, let’s take a look at the beginning of Final Fantasy VIII and see what I think about it.

This was a very busy day for me. Plus there was, you know, an election that we’re anxiously awaiting the results of. So, my brain is pretty shot. However I still need to write something. But I never said in my original post that they had to be long posts. So hey, go play some video games and try to relax. Join me tomorrow for something a little more in depth.
We all know the successor to the Nintendo Switch is coming in the near future. We don’t know exactly when, we don’t know how much it’ll cost, we don’t even know what it’s called, but we know it’s coming. I thought it would be fun to write what I want to see from the console. Might not be the most exciting list of features you’ve ever seen, but here’s what I’m hoping for.

I mentioned this back in my Mars After Midnight review, but this has been the year that I finally spent serious time with my Playdate. I preordered it the day preorders became available, received it about a year later and then… goofed off with it for an hour or two and put it down. It’s not that I didn’t have fun with it, but there just was nothing there that really held my interest. But things changed this year.

Ever since Zelda went 3D on the Nintendo 64, traditional 2D Zelda games became relegated to handheld systems. With the release of the Nintendo Switch and the discontinuation of dedicated handheld Nintendo consoles, the future of 2D Zelda games was in question. Would it make sense to put out a 2D game on a system that had Breath of the Wild on it? We got a little bit of hope in 2019 with a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, but it would take all the way until this year when we’d finally get a brand new entry. Was the wait worth it, and is there a place for 2D Zelda games in 2024?
