Game of the Year is coming up quickly, which means pretty soon I need to figure out my list very soon. Every year, some really big games inevitably get left off my list, simply because I have not played them. I’m one guy writing a blog, not a big website with a staff who’s primary job is playing and writing about everything. I thought it might be a good idea to list a few of the big games that I have not played this year and that I doubt I will by the time the year is up.
Metaphor: ReFantazio

I would really like to play Metaphor. I played though Persona 5 and loved it, and this is the new game from that team. But I just don’t see myself finding time for another giant JRPG by the end of the year. This one will get played, just not in time for my list.
Balatro

I spent all year hearing people on podcasts talk about how Balatro was a game of the year contender. But I’m just not that into poker, or poker adjacent games. Maybe I’ll pick it up on sale some day and it’ll turn out to completely blow my mind, but as of right now, I just don’t have much interest in it.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

This one’s pretty simple. I’m simply way too far behind in the Like A Dragon/Yakuza series. I’ll get caught up one of these days, but there’s just no reason for me to play this one now.
Helldivers 2

I just don’t play that many multiplayer games. Sea of Thieves continues to be an obsession and I love me some Splatoon, but that’s about it. Helldivers 2 seems really cool though, so maybe I’ll get around to this some day.
Sorry if any of these are your favorites. There’s tons more that I didn’t play, but I think these are the biggest ones. But remember, just because I don’t play them now doesn’t mean I won’t get to them later, and I can always give them an honorable mention after I do.
